About Us

The Desired Futures Survey is a research project initiated and conducted by the Decades Association - an international research network working on foresight issues.

Launched in 2024, the Desired Futures Survey aims to :

  • Better understand how people around the world perceive the ecological, political, economic and social challenges of 2050,
  • Identify the solutions they imagine to bring about a desirable future on a national and international scale,
  • Analyse how these desirable futures on a collective scale fit in with their personal wishes and dreams.

To do this, we conduct semi-structured face-to-face interviews lasting between an hour and an hour and a half - some recorded on video, others audio only (see our FAQ on survey methodology – NB : prepare a blank text page for the FAQ that I’ll fill later). They are conducted by a growing international network of field researchers.

The Desired Futures Survey is a permanent survey: we want the sample to grow constantly so that, in time, we can potentially make it more representative.
